Range Rover Classic

It’s a fact. Land Rovers are built to withstand the harshest of conditions. From tackling steep inclines to driving through mud, sand and even water, they still manage to remain in one piece! Just because they’re designed for the toughest terrains however, this doesn’t mean that they need less tender loving care. In fact, it’s hugely important that you keep your trusty Landy in top condition in order to enable them to withstand whatever the road or weather may throw their way!

Caring for your Landy takes a certain amount of time and effort, and when you love ‘em like we do, you always want to put in that extra bit of time. However, we’re all busy and we all have lives so here are some quick fire tips for taking care of your Land Rover, from cleaning to checking and everything else in between, enjoy!

Top Tips for Caring for Your Land Rover

Cleaning

First up is cleaning. Not the most enjoyable of jobs but one that needs doing nonetheless. Let’s start outside and work our way in, shall we? So, they are built for adventure but that doesn’t mean they have to spend their lives looking unloved and dirty! While there is a certain rugged charm to a mud-splattered bonnet, it doesn’t hurt to give it a good clean every once in a while.

Take care when cleaning and make sure you are using the proper kit so you don’t cause any damage. If you’re really hot on and want to protect your Landy from some of life’s tougher challenges, you can take a look at our range of protection here. Online you’ll find a range of products to help you to combat marks with a range of both aerosol paints and paint pens to touch up your vehicles bodywork and protect against rust.

As for the inside, start by cleaning out all the things you really don’t need. From water bottles to crisp packets, we know they are hiding in there! Once you are clean and tidy, give it a dust and a polish, making sure it is ready for action and hoovered, including those floor mats!

Tyre Care

As any Land Rover owner will know, it’s important that you look after your tyres. Whether you drive your Landy on tarmac primarily or you’re prone to a spot of off roading it’s important that you check your tyres regularly and inspect your tyres for signs of wear.

Tyres can also change with the seasons, literally, depending on what you need from your Landy. If you are a seasoned adventurer, tackling different terrains and weather conditions, you might be ahead of the game with your tyre change. If you’re not sure, you may have all-season tyres. However you use your Landy, it’s important that you do your research and change them accordingly.

At Craddocks, we stock a wide range of tyres for Land Rovers which are suitable for all surfaces and purposes. While chunky treads always look great on a Landy, the correct tyre selection needs to be driven by how you actually use your vehicle. If you’re unsure about which options best suit your needs, drop us a message and we’d be happy to help!

Basic Checks

Of course, you will be checking your car regularly, but just in case you’re not, or it has slipped the mind lately, it is worth popping some time in each month to check the vitals. Make sure fluids are topped up and ready for action as well as looking at the tyre treads and whether or not your tyres are inflated to the correct amount.

It’s also important to check your engine air filter performance too. Your engine relies on a constant flow of clean air in order to maximise fuel economy and performance. Experts recommend an engine air filter replacement interval of roughly 30,000 to 40,000 miles, but you should always check your owner’s manual for a model-specific recommendation.

Aside from those, make sure you have everything you need from walking shoes to a hazard triangle, so if things go a bit south, you are more than prepared!

Servicing

New or old, every motor needs to be on top of its servicing. It saves you money and hassle in the long run and can help you to pick up smaller issues before they become, big, expensive, and disruptive to your routine. It pays to find a garage you can trust and to build a relationship with them, bonus points if they are Landy experts too.

Here at John Craddock Ltd, we’re home to our very own Service and Accessory Fitting Centre based in Cannock. Here we carry our servicing, diagnostics, repairs and even tyre fitting. We can also provide full information upon request with your reg number and mileage and also have full access to Land Rover’s online service history on vehicles produced after 2013. Please phone 01543 460178 for booking and enquiries.

Bodywork

Wear and tear is part and parcel, but that big dent in the side of your door isn’t such a cool look. Get any bodywork taken care of as soon as possible to prevent rusting and keep your Landy feeling and looking fresh. Whether you choose to handle it yourself or take it to a shop is totally up to you, but just keep the exterior in good nick and you will thank yourself in years to come.

Online you’ll find a range of chassis and body parts for Land Rovers including front and rear panels, doors, glass and regulators and all of the fittings.
