About Superwinch
Founded by Frank Tolsdorf, Superwinch began life as a project of Ford Motor Company. As a marketer and entrepreneur, Frank saw a gap on the market for an organisation dedicated to developing and manufacturing the very best winches, and so Superwinch began to put down the roots that would make it a well-known brand today.
While the first iterations of the Superwinch to roll off the production line were for the pleasure boating market, it quickly became clear that winches could be used for a variety of applications. This realisation spurred on a flurry of acquisitions across the USA, expanding Superwinch from its humble beginnings in Connecticut to a nationwide enterprise. From here, the company moved into hydraulic and worm drive winch markets, as well as overdrive gearboxes for Toyota and Land Rover.
As Superwinch quickly became pioneers in their industry, they were the first to use synthetic ropes for their winches which put them head and shoulders above their competition. The original EXP12 model is a non-integrated winch. It’s traditional remote cast aluminium solenoid box housing offers more flexibility for positioning on your vehicle and also comes with picatinny rails for your accessories. Much like its siblings, this expedition grade winch features 3-stage planetary geartrain, 100’ wire rope and high strength roller fairlead for excellent performance on the ground.
The Superwinch EXP12S features a synthetic rope, remote cast aluminium solenoid box, picatinny rails and advanced gearing. With a capacity of 12,000lbs, it’s got all the pulling power you need to help you out of a tight spot with ease.
