In recent weeks, Jaguar Land Rover has launched an innovative new technology business that aims to deliver better travel and transport experiences. The company will focus its energies on building apps and on-demand services that seek to overcome modern travel and transport challenges faced by individuals and countries worldwide.
It is expected that the new business venture, known as InMotion, could end up rivalling the likes of Uber and Gett, as it sets its sights on car-sharing and on-demand delivery. InMotion will be independently run from Jaguar Land Rover, with real-world testing due to start on some apps next month in Europe, North America, and Asia.
The Future of Connected Car Tech?
InMotion will begin by carrying out extensive global research to learn more about emerging travel and transport issues and how best to solve them. Technology is already changing the way people travel and InMotion aims to combine the best of automotive technology with smartphones or other connected devices.
JLR Group Strategy Director, Adrian Hallmark, said: “With the development of new apps and on-demand services, InMotion provides us with an opportunity to provide engaging and invaluable experiences to both new and existing customers globally.
“As a start-up business, InMotion combines the flexibility and pace needed to compete in the ever-changing mobility sector. It allows us to react quickly to new tech and ever-changing customer demands.”
This is certainly an exciting prospect for both Land Rover and automotive enthusiasts alike. While we are yet to know or understand the specifics of certain projects that InMotion will be working on in the near future, we can probably expect that this new, pioneering technology will trickle down into up and coming Jaguar Land Rover vehicles.
