Duties and Taxes – Germany

Who Pays The Duties and Taxes On My Parcel?

All customers are responsible for the duties and taxes of their order. VAT and tariffs may apply to your order once it has been dispatched. All customers are responsible for duties and taxes on their order and will be charged at either the checkout or through the shipping agent/customs once it arrives in Germany. If any VAT or duties are to be paid, you will be contacted by the customs teams in Germany.

What is the VAT rate for Germany?

The current standard VAT rate for imports into mainland Germany is 19%. However, there are some circumstances where certain products that are specifically targeted by the tax law are only charged at 7%.

What Happens if a Customer Refuses to Pay Customs or Duties on an Order?

If it is that you choose to cancel your order by refusing to pay the customs/duties, the initial shipping amount will not be refunded and an additional administration surcharge will apply to your order.

Lead Times

How Long Will It Take For My Parcel to be Dispatched?

We aim to dispatch international orders within 3-5 working days.

What if this Affected Item Is Not in Stock?

If it is that you’ve made a special order and your item isn’t in stock, there may be added delays due to the lead times of the supplier. However, this doesn’t tend to have an impact on the 3-5 day dispatch time that we aim to meet.

Why is Delivery Taking Longer Than Expected?

There are a number of factors that may contribute to longer delivery times. Depending on the size of the parcel, it can take anywhere between 1-4 weeks to deliver to Germany. However, at each stage of your item’s journey, we will aim to keep you fully informed on the status of your order until it’s delivered to your door.

Tracking and Parcel Safety

Are Customers Given a Tracking Code Upon Ordering?

Yes. Once you have checked out, a tracking number will be sent by email or text by the courier. We will also include this information in the invoice sent out to you once your order has dispatched.

How are Products Packaged?

The packaging of your product(s) will depend on its size and weight. As standard, we use heavy duty cardboard packaging with cardboard void fill and cushioning for the majority of orders. For larger, more delicate items, we also use specifically made wooden crates.

Bulk and Oversized Orders

What Happens if Orders are Overweight/Oversized?

When you reach the checkout, we will automatically try to calculate the best shipping options for your chosen product(s). If they are oversized or overweight, a delivery surcharge can sometimes apply. If this is the case for you, a message will appear at the checkout and one of our representatives will reach out to you to explain the delivery options and surcharges involved.

Returns

What is the Returns Process For International Orders?

Our returns process for customers in Germany is designed to be quick, easy and straightforward. For that reason, a lot of our international returns policy remains the same as the domestic returns policy. Therefore, all items can be returned within 28 days of delivery by courier or full refund, as long as the item is in its original packaging and you have proof of purchase. To see this policy in full, please see our Returns page.

Who Pays For the Return Cost of an Item?

Unless it is expressly our fault, you will be expected to pay to return any goods that are cancelled or claimed under warranty. Once we have received your return and identified whether the fault is ours, we will refund the cost of your postage. In order to avoid tax and duty charges for your return, please make sure that you clearly mark your parcel as ‘returned goods’ and be sure to include all of the relevant paperwork and tracking numbers to verify that your parcel is a return.

Are Any Items Non-Returnable from International Locations?

If you purchase an engine or gearbox in an international destination like Germany, it will be non-returnable and lose its warranty. If it’s not possible to return a special order item back to the supplier, this will also be non-returnable.

Should Customers Insure Items Upon Returning Them?

This is a good idea as if any items are returned, it is at their own risk. If they end up damaged or lost in transit, you will be expected to bear the cost.
